Another great one!

I stayed up until 3:30 am finishing the book I have been reading (it may have had to do also with the fact that I am not used to the time difference between the States and Spain). It is called "Healing Promises" by Amy Wallace and is the book 2 of the Defenders of Hope Series. Click here to read about the first one.

This one is another book that I will strongly recomend to you to read- It has to do with an FBI agent being diagnose with cancer and his fight to admit his illness and trust in God with the process he is to go through. Waiting in the Lord is not an easy thing to do for us especially when we think we need a miracle fast. Also when we want to be able to control the circunstances, admitting we can do it this time, is hard.

It also talks about Sara, his wife, and the struggle to praise God regardless the circunstances. The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away, blessed be the name of the Lord.

On top of that, for those that love adrenaline filled stories, you will see how they fight to track down a serial kidnapper.

For those that think I told the whole story, you are wrong, there is so much to this book. Not only are you being entertain by reading a good book, but also God can use so many lessons from that book to talk to your heart.

Lately I have been impress by God with the need of praising Him more. Not just when I feel like it but also when the storms are dark upon us. It is so easy to praise Him when you are being showered with blessings upon blessings. But how about when you find out you have an illness. How about when you get hit will bills after bills. How about when temptations are hitting you hard. How about when you are depressed and think you can´t go on.

How to get out of that dark pit. Look up to God and praise Him, because there is so much to thank Him about.

I am thinking about starting a meme called "I´ll praise Him" probably for tuesdays. But first I have to figure out how Mr. Linky works :) Any help?

So what do you think? Would you join me for tuesdays "I´ll praise Him"? Coming probably in a week.

Have a great one ladies. I am off for a search of a new apartment/house. Pray for us

A little part of the giveaway and a thanks to a friend

Hello ladies,

I know, I usually don´t post on saturday, but I have a little break from all the visits and I thought I would take advantage.

On thrusday, a family from a supporting church came to spend with us a week. They have been called to Spain as missionaries and this is their survey trip. So we are trying our best to behave ;).. LOL... and to make this trip a blessing to them.

On friday we received a group of "young adults" that are studying missions in a college in the States and are visiting different countries and areas as a survey trip also. They are staying actually with a missionary friends of ours in Madrid, and they thought they would come for a day and pass out tracts with us. Last night we passed way over 1,000 tracts downtown Granada.

Both groups and my husband are now visiting the Alhambra. I started going with them, but it is over 104 degrees and the girls were having a hard time, so I got them back home and so... here I am :). I will meet them for lunch.

Anyhow, I did find part of my blogverary giveaway. This time I wanted a giveaway with a Spanish flavor. Something typical from here. While walking throught the city last night I found this.

And what is this you ask?

Is a fan!! What is more typical from Spain that a handpainted spanish fan??? Pretty much nothing. Maybe a bullfighter but hey, we are all girls, so .... who is going to want a bullfighter? :)

Isn´t it beautiful? This is the back of the fan.... or the front..... whatever.....

You can start entering for this giveaway (I will be getting something else this week for you gals to include in the giveaway.... I need to look some more :)) by commenting in this post.

So, here are the rules. Because it is my blogaversay I want to thank, giving this giveaway, someone that has been a regular in this blog. Because I don´t have a way to know if you have been regular but by your comments, you would have had to comment in this blog more than a couple times. If you have, then I would love for you to enter. But one more thing, in your comment I want you to let me know what would you like me to write about. Give me an specific question, nothing general. It can be about me, our ministry, Spain, my family.... whatever! Your call!

I would also like to thank Kim from Stuff could always be worse, for the "Attitude of Gratitude" reward she has given me. I feel always so humble about someone thinking about me when wanting to give a reward, but I appreciate it so much. May it be always clear the God I serve by my attitude and testimony.

I hope you gals have a great day and I will see you on Monday!

Burned out

Yep, I am burned out with my meal selection… I am tired of eating always the same. I am so so tired.
I am always so not looking forward Monday mornings because it is when I do my meal planning for the week. I so hate that time of the week. Chicken parmesan, quesadillas, steak sandwiches, fish, pork chops…… always the same deal.

I am not a cooker. I can cook, my meals taste good (I think, maybe I should ask my family), but I am not one of those that enjoy thinking of a new way to surprise my family with a fancy dinner. My favorite section in cooking magazines is the 30 min meals. I am just not one that enjoys cooking. Still, I pretty much cook everyday of the week, especially since we moved to Spain.

I learn to cook in the States (sorry to those that were expecting Spanish recipes from me).I learn out of the Taste of Home magazines. As soon as I got to the States (once I was married) a lady in church adopted me as her secret sister. She got me a free 1 year subscription to the magazine. I think she realized Matthew was losing weight J.
When I got out of high school, I started working in a city 1 hour away from my house. So I would left in the morning and come back at night. Never had the chance to learn from my mom. Neither did I have the desire.

I remember once before I got married. I was in the States the first time for a visit and my sister call. She needed me to take care of her boys lunch because she was visiting someone and could not make it. She wanted me to make spaghettis. How easy was that? To make my humiliation greater I should say I was about to turn 21. I had never make spaghettis before. So I ask my sister how I was supposed to do that. She really needed to get off the phone so she told me to figure it out.
So I knew it had meat, pasta and tomato sauce. I couldn’t find the tomato sauce but did find a can of tomatoes. I put it all in water. Didn’t fry the meat, just put it in the water. I also put the tomatoes. Are you feeling sick already? Well just imagine how my nephews felt. I recall one of them actually crying (he was 12 or 13) and the other one gagging. I felt so insulted hahahhahah. I still hear from my nephews about “that one time when Pilar made spaghettis for us”. J I think this is why I never venture to make any meals unless I have a recipe.

Yes, I follow recipes, and I follow them pretty well, so I think this is why my family think I can cook. I can make pretty much anything, but I need a recipe, at least the first few times…… until I memorize it. Really, would you be over the fear of “figuring out” how to make something after my traumatizing experience…. I think no…. and I don’t think you would recommend me to J

So, now I am done with my meals and really need some new ones. So, tomorrow night, while the girls are in bed and Matthew is off to football practice, guess what I will be doing? You are right, I am going recipe hunting in the web. Any places that you like to find recipes from. Any recipe that you love that wouldn’t mind sharing with me. Am I the only one that have a very embarrassing story?

Christmas movies

Got a question for ya'll (yeah I learned english in the south) and this time everyone has to comment ok? even if you don't know me :)

I am looking for the best christmas movies to watch this season. So I would like to hear at least 2 of your favorites. Do it soon because I have to start looking for them. One hint about me so this can actually be helpful: I don't watch black and white movies and also the newer (but clean) the better. Yeah, I know, the best are the classics but I don't think I have ever watch "It is a wonderful life" and those other ones that everyone considers a must every christmas........ don't kill me.... I don't know what happens to me when I see black and white or old... my mind colapases ;)

Thanks ladies, looking forward hearing what you have for me.

Christmas is coming!

Christmas is almost here!. Really. Can't you believe it? I can't. I don't know where this year went, but it did, and it is almost time for the best month of the year. :). And it is not because it is also the month of my birthday. Yes ladies, December 4th, I will be turning 31.... I mean 26 hehehh ;).
That is another one that don't know how happend. How is it that I am 31???? I don't remember my birthdays after 26.... But I won't talk about that right now, I could get going let me tell you.
December is also the month of Nicole's brithday. She will be 5... my little girl is 5... I will leave that one alone too.
I guess it seems like I still have a while. I remember, by the middle of November, I will get really excited about Christmas while we live in the States. You know, Thanksgiving is not over yet and they have Christmas decorations all over. Spain is a little different, at least it is how it was a few years back. Decorations will be up in the middle of December but they won't put them down until the 7th of January. Why? Well because in Spain we don't have Santa, we have "The Three Wiseman". They would "come" the night of the 5th of Jan.
I am looking forward putting up the tree, decorating the house, wraping up the presents.... I can't wait to start going shopping for the girls and Matthew. I can't wait to start remembering with the girls about the story of Christmas ( we will start in December), I can't wait, I can't wait...
So what made me write about this...? This morning I realized that it is November and that I need to start making christmas list and start shopping. I also want to start looking for activities for the girls to start doing in December that would make the season more exciting. I want to start looking for Christmas stories where the importance it is put in the birth of Jesus.
I know you guys are not much into commenting, but wether you know me or not, if you have any ideas of stories, crafts... let me know.

Kids playroom ideas- Decorating tips

Hello everyone,
I got a question for you all especially those into designing. As you know we have now moved to a house and that of course means more room for everyone. The girls room is a nice size, but since we got here they have found the garage to be their favorite room. We have boxes down there, but there is a big area that is open and that is where the girls have been playing. For some reason they prefer that to their own room. The floor of the garage is done, it is not concrete, but it does stay cool because it is not carpet. (I guess here it is use more as a "summer room" than as a garage- it actually has a fire place, and our neighbour has turned hers into the place where she has gatherings) That may be the reason why they like it so much, it is cooler in there than anywhere else in the house.

Anyway, they found their old toy box with old toys inside, we had a chalkboard that I don't much care to have inside the house and Matthew took it downstairs for them to use. I still need that area to be of storage but I was wondering if you guys have any ideas to turn that into a cozy play room for them. But remember, keep the budget under 100$, the less the better. If you have any ideas, share away please. Until then, you can find me in decorating sites :)
