Me again

How many times have you read a portion of scriptures and never got much from that particular portion, and one day the Lord uses it to encourage you in a way that turns that portion into one of your favorites.

That has happend to me many times. I remember right before we came to Spain, I was afraid. What a responsability!.Would we dissapoint people? Would we dissapoint God? Am I ready? Psalm 91 was a great strength for me. Satan knew it was time, and it was trying to get me to be afraid. This parts were of great encouragement

vr 2: my God; in him will I trust.

vr 4-5: He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou his truth shall be thy shield and buckler. Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror, by night; nor for the arrow, that flieth by day.

God knows we get scared easily, and in His mercy He has given us 366 verses about not being afraid. There is no God like our God.

Psalm 18: 1-3 has been close to my heart for many years now. "I will love thee, oh Lord my stregth". When things get complicated those words are like medicine to my soul.

Psal 107 has been a help to me today, especially verses 4-7. You know, sometimes God allows us to go on "our way" so we can realize there is no way but His. In our stregth there is nothing but failure. In His stregth there is hope.

Last summer I had a couple of ladies coming to the church we were helping with. They both came with difficult backgrounds religiously. God used a portion of Acts 18 to give me boldness "Be not afraid, but speak, and hold not thy peace: For I am with thee". Within two days both ladies got saved.

So this is what I ask from you. I would love you to share with me one time, pick one, where God touched your heart during your devotions with a verse. It is amazing how many times I read comments from other people and God used it to bless my heart or speak to me. So go on, please share.

Thanks Ashley. This same verse has been an encouragement to me at times too, as I imagine to most of us. What a blessing to know God always have us.
Yep, my computer got fixed, by my lovely husband. We got a rather high estimate from the shop and Matthew thought he could do it himself, and of course he did a great job. :)

Romans 4:17

For many years growing up in church and then even into my late twenties I would hear people say, "I call those things that be not as though they were" so much so that I was always saying that until one day I was praying in the Spirit and the Lord sent me to that Scripture. I read it so FAST because it was FAMILIAR to me. The Lord had me read it over again literally making me feel as if I were reading in slow motion and then there it was -- as clear as day --

"As it is written: "I have made you a father of many nations." He is our father in the sight of God, in whom he believed—the God who gives life to the dead and calls things that are not as though they were."

Did you see it? "the God who..." not "I".

The Lord showed me that those who are praying "I call those things that be..." are saying it as if they have the power to call that "thing" into being but only GOD has the power! And so from then on when I pray that Scripture or speak it to someone I say, "I belong to the GOD who calls those things that be...".

Make sense? Hope my testimony is not too long. :)

Thanks for sharing this message Pilar and for the opportunity for all of us to think about our times with the Lord and the correction and encouragement His love provides. How sweet He is.

Love you.

I hope my comment I wrote you didn´t get lost. I wrote like 3 paragraphs. The other night before I wrote my virtual sub culture post.

I really look forward to the comments we write back and forth. I think I look for your comments more than anyones. You were the one who got me started in this after all. :)

I had written here that this was a really good post about verses that we read and don´t really get through until much later.

One such verse for me lately has been Matthew 6:20-21
Am I really concerned about the eternal or the earthly? It´s really been a question I have been asking myself a lot lately. Am I looking out for the souls of those around me? Am I teaching my boys things that will count for eternity? I truly pray this can be true in my life.

I always stop by to read your special place in this virtual sub culture... commonly known as your blog. :)

Several verses that the Lord uses often in my life is I Corinthians 13:4-7 (so convicting to me! I read and quote them often) and the first part of Philippians 2. One that I say often in times of trouble is Psalm 121. A few others: Isaiah 40:11, Psalm 34:1, and have you ever paid attention to Psalm 68:12b-13. Interesting! My favorite book is probably Psalms! It is so full of good stuff!
